MagnaSavings has the latest deals on computer cases, all form factors and sizes, from budget computer cases to a case modder’s dream case, and we list it all. Far from the “beige” boxes of the 1990’s, computer cases have now entered the 21st century, and come in hundreds of shapes, sizes, materials, and layouts for the ultimate in customization. Most high-end cases are now made from aluminum, a metal that is both light-weight, and can act as a heat-sink to keep components cool inside.
Almost any case can be modded with acrylic windows, clear side panels, or fancy paint jobs, and we list a number of cheap computer cases here, or ones that happen to be a great deal which have already been modified for you. Some of these cases even include various LED or code cathode lighting, extra fans and cooling, front control panels, specialized fan grills, and even liquid cooling systems.
Liquid cooling systems enable computer tinkerers to “overclock” their CPU by cranking up its clock speed past the recommended settings (by the way, we have a whole section dedicated to
cheap PC component deals that case modders and tinkerers will find interesting). By using liquid cooling, users are able to keep their CPUs cooler than with traditional air cooling, and push their CPUs performance and speed to the limit. For those of us who have “gone through” CPUs, fortunately we have a whole page where we list the
best processor bargains on the web, so you can find a new one at a fraction of the cost. A number of cases now have built-in water cooling capabilities, and we’ll list some of the best bargains we can find on these cases.
A traditional computer case will have spaces for the power supply unit (PSU) and drive bays. The most common motherboard format and case layout for a desktop computer case is ATX, though there are a few other form factors such as mATX that are common for smaller formats, like home-theater PCs. Drive bays typically come in two sizes, 5.25” and 3.5”, while 3.5” is typically used externally for floppy disk drives (which have pretty much been phased out of use) and internally for hard disk drives and
solid state disk drives. The 5.25" drive bay can be filled with as many
low-cost media player drives as you'd like, with prices on DVD writer drives plummiting, you can afford several. Most cases also come standard with several fans, extra screws and supplies, and all the necessary mounting hardware. Some cases even come with sound-deadening foam to dampen the sound of all those roaring fans!
